Stellar Shot of the Week: October 15, 2021
"Sharpless Sh2-34 - (by Paul Milvain)"

Congratulations to this week's Stellar Shot selection, which goes to a very uncommon and stunningly pretty target. The creatively-named "Sharpless Sh2-34" is a large, faint, nebulous region in Sagittarius with strong signals in both broadband and narrowband. In this case Paul took his images with a ZWO ASI2600MM camera and Astronomik LRGB-HA-Oiii filters, with the narrowband lines being used to bring out even more detail in this very diffuse target. The color pallet has that fantastic cotton-candy blend you get from good Ha/Oii+LRGB combinations, and the stars all look sharp to our eyes. This image is particularly interesting for how busy it feels, with a crazy blend of emission, reflection, and dark nebulae all mixing together in one field.

Impeccable job by Paul, and make sure to check out the rest of his work on Astrobin under the username of "the_bluester."

We would love to see some of your images too! Feel free to submit them by email (using mail@stellarvue.com) or by tagging them with #stellarvue and #stellarshot.
