Stellarvue's SVX152T is a hand figured, high resolution telescope. This is an exceptional visual refractor that produces amazing images when used with the Stellarvue photographic field flattener.

Availability: We begin the production of all SVX objectives one year ahead of time so while it takes up to a year to perfect each objective, we usually have several lenses available when you order. This means we can generally deliver this telescope within one or two weeks depending on the availability of focusers. At the current time we have Feather Touch focusers in stock and MoonLite focusers only add a few weeks to the waiting period as a general rule. Our sales increased in 2024 above what we anticipated and as a result, we are now out of Stellarvue 3" focusers. We plan to have 200 of these focusers completed about mid April so delivery of telescopes ordered with 3" Stellarvue focusers will be delayed until Spring. You can still order this telescope made with a Stellarvue focuser but delivery will be delayed. Call us for more specific information on delivery time estimates for the telescope and focuser you are looking for. (530) 823-7796.
Optics: SVX152T is rated at .97 to .98 Strehl as measured on our Zygo Phase Shifting Interferometer in red light. Visit our SVX Optics Page to learn more about this process. We are currently in process of developing a video on the SVX152T. We recently took the objective that had just been completed, and we performed some tests including a Zygo interferometric test and double pass autocollimation test. This gives a good idea of how these objectives perform across the visual spectrum.

Focuser Selection:

  1. The Stellarvue 3" focuser. This focuser has 4.5" of travel and 2" and 1.25" compression ring adapters. This is our brand focuser that is well known as a stable and smooth 3" focuser with a highly accurate 8 to 1 reduction that allows absolutely precise focusing. This is the same as used on our smaller aperture telescopes. Both Optec and ZWO motors attach directly to this focuser allowing even more precise focusing.
  2. The Starlight Instruments 3.5" focuser, with 4.5" of travel and 2" and 1.25" compression ring adapters. This is an American-made focuser that is equally smooth to the focuser above but is larger. Both Optec and Starlight Instruments make motors for these focusers.
  3. The Moonlight Nightcrawler 3.5" focuser with various extension tubes and 2" and 1.25" adapters. This is an advanced, electronic, computerized focuser preferred by dedicated imagers. It is the most expensive upgrade, but for those who want perfection when it comes to imaging, this is considered one of the best. The downside is a very short focuser draw tube length which is great for imaging stability but requires various extensions when converting to visual use. Since most high-end imagers rarely or never look through their instrument, this is usually no big deal.

*Please note that the default color for the Nitecrawler will be RED unless specified otherwise. For a full list of available color options visit www.focuser.com.

Photographic Field Flatteners

Purchase photographic field flatteners when you buy this telescope and save up to $300. Merely select the options at the top of the page to add these photographic field flatteners.

sffx-3-new-2024-2-cropped-final-psd-copy.jpgField Flattener: To image with this telescope, use the SFFX-3 photographic Field Flattener.

Reducer Flattener: To image at f-6, we currently offer the SFFR.72 photographic field flattener/reducer. This is an imported unit sold by a number of sources on the market. It is the best unit we have found so far. Based on the success of our in-house field flatteners, we are currently working on a new in-house reducer/flattener that will have the same optical specification as our flatteners. We expect to have this unit ready in early 2025.

When you buy these photographic correctors with the telescope, we will include the necessary adapters needed to attach to the focuser you have selected. We will contact you to determine your camera thread size and back focus. We will work with you to get the flattener and reducer/flattener matched to your camera.
