Stellarvue's SVX152T is a hand figured, high resolution telescope. This is an exceptional visual refractor that produces amazing images when used with the Stellarvue photographic field flattener. Watch the SVX152T Apo Triplet Refractor Video!
Availability: While it takes up to a year to perfect each SVX objective, we operate one year in advance. Each month we complete dozens of SVX objectives and send them to the coating lab. Our goal is to have a waiting period of less than 30 days, but this is not always possible since demand varies, and each individual objective takes a different amount of time to perfect. Our current estimate for delivery times may be found on our "availability page" but it is best to contact us at (530) 823-7796 for more specific information on delivery times for a specific telescope you want, if ordered now. Each SVX objective we hand figure takes a significant amount of time. We will not rush this process. Time is not of the essence. Do not order a telescope from us if you cannot wait the additional time it may take to perfect your individual optic.
Coatings: Broadband, full multi-coatings on each surface enhance contrast and eliminate unwanted reflections.
Focuser Selection:
- The Stellarvue 3" focuser. This focuser has 4.5" of travel and 2" and 1.25" compression ring adapters. This is our brand focuser that is well known as a stable and smooth 3" focuser with a highly accurate 8 to 1 reduction that allows absolutely precise focusing. This is the same as used on our smaller aperture telescopes. Both Optec and ZWO motors attach directly to this focuser allowing even more precise focusing. If you intend to use our future reducer/flattener with a full frame camera we recommend upgrading to a 3.5" focuser.
- The Starlight Instruments 3.5" focuser, with 4.5" of travel and 2" and 1.25" compression ring adapters. This is an American-made focuser that is equally smooth to the focuser above but is larger. Both Optec and Starlight Instruments make motors for these focusers.
- The Moonlight Nightcrawler 3.5" focuser with various extension tubes and 2" and 1.25" adapters. This is an advanced, electronic, computerized focuser preferred by dedicated imagers. It is the most expensive upgrade, but for those who want perfection when it comes to imaging, this is considered one of the best. The downside is a very short focuser draw tube length which is great for imaging stability, but requires various extensions when converting to visual use.
*Please note that the default color for the Nitecrawler will be RED unless specified otherwise. For a full list of available color options visit www.focuser.com.
Photographic Field Flatteners
Purchase photographic field flatteners when you buy this telescope and save up to $300. Select the options at the top of the page to add these photographic field flatteners.
Field Flattener: To image with this telescope, use the SFFX-3 photographic Field Flattener.
Reducer Flattener: The "SFFRX-152180" .75X full frame reducer/flattener reduces the speed of the SVX152T from f-8 to f-6. This is a dedicated reducer/flattener made specifically for the SVX152T and SVX180T.
When you buy these photographic correctors with the telescope, we will include the necessary adapters needed to attach to the focuser you have selected. The backfocus of this reducer/flattener can be easily modified to match your particular requirement. This is accomplished by changing out the extension tube(s) (see the SFFRX-152180 and SFFX-3 pages). This gives users the ability to add an electronic rotator into their image train.
To order simply:
2. Select the focuser you are using3. Type in the backfocus for your complete imaging train in millimeters. This is the distance from the camera sensor in the camera to the attachment thread at the front of your imaging train. This includes the camera, filter wheel, off-axis guider and (if you have one) a rotator. Most astronomy cameras and DSLR cameras have a 55 mm back spacing.
