This Stellarvue photographic field flattener and reducer is made exclusively by Stellarvue. It is designed as a dedicated full-frame, reducer/flattener specifically for our SVX152T and SVX180T apo triplet refractors. It reduces the f-ratio by .75X. The SVX152T becomes an f-6 and the SVX180T becomes an f-5.25! As with all Stellarvue-designed photographic flatteners, these units have a very long back focus to accommodate using a variety of additional accessories. Stellarvue will match the camera thread and back focus of your imaging train as long as your camera thread is one of these: M42, M48, M-54, M-68, 2.156"-24, 3"-24.

This three-element flattener uses two fluoro-phosphate elements, and each lens has a broad-band, multi-coating designed for astro-imaging. The unit is large and designed to work with 3.5" focusers, including Stellarvue telescopes sold with a 3.5" Feather Touch or the 3.5" Moonlight focuser. Contact us if your Stellarvue telescope uses another focuser.

The backfocus of this reducer/flattener can be easily modified to match your particular requirement. This is accomplished by changing out the extension tube (see the side view image above). This gives the user the ability to add electronic rotators into the image plane. We supply this reducer/flattener with extension tube(s) to match your particular back focus. To order simply:

1. Select the attachment thread on your camera
2. Select the focuser you are using
3. Type in the backfocus for your complete imaging train in millimeters. This is the distance from the camera sensor in the camera to the attachment thread at the front of your imaging train. This includes the camera, filter wheel, off-axis guider and (if you have one) a rotator. Most astronomy cameras and DSLR cameras have a 55 mm back spacing.

Using a 40 mm extension tube, this reducer/flattener is matched to a camera that has a 55 mm back focus. If your camera has a different spacing from its attachment thread to the sensor, we will replace the 40 mmextension tube with one of a different length to match your particular camera system.
