Optics: To attain a high level of optical accuracy, Stellarvue opticians meticulously figure objectives in our shop using the interferometer and a double pass autocollimater. SVX optics are more accurate than our former SV models.
Specifications
FOCUSER
Comes standard with a Stellarvue 3" dual speed, rack and pinion focuser.
OBJECTIVE LENS
101.5mm clear aperture, 714mm focal length (f-7), air spaced apochromatic doublet using a super low dispersion element with a matching Lanthanum element. Precision figured in our shop in Auburn, CA.
LIGHT GAIN
213X (human eye = 1)
TUBE ASSEMBLY
Lightweight, fully baffled, aluminum tube and dew shield. Painted ultra flat black inside. 105mm diameter main tube.
DEW SHIELD
4-3/4” diameter, 8-5/16” long retracting aluminum dew shield with cap.
COATINGS
Extreme broadband, full multi-coatings on each surface transmit more than 99.5% in the visual spectrum and far above and below it. The reason to extend beyond the visual spectrum has to do with imaging. CCD and CMOS detectors in cameras record beyond the visual spectrum. Broadband, full multi-coatings eliminate unwanted reflections seen on CCD images taken through telescopes that have inferior coatings.
DIMENSIONS
With the dew shield retracted the telescope is 21 1/2" long. This is airline carry-on size for most aircraft. With the dew shield extended, the length is about 26 1/2". If traveling by air and the airline has a shorter carry-on length the focuser may be unthreaded by hand reducing the length to about 17 1/2".
WEIGHT
About 9 pounds with 2” adapter and 1 1/4" adapter. Rings weigh .9 pounds each.
ALUMINUM HINGED RINGS
The telescope is supplied with our CNC aluminum mounting rings. Each ring has five threaded holes top and bottom. Threaded holes are 1/4-20. There is one center hole, two holes spaced 1.5" apart, and two holes spaced 60mm apart. Use the optional TP010 rail for telescope mounts using the Vixen style rail, or the optional TP009 for mounts that use the larger Losmandy style rail
OPTIONAL ACCESSORIES
In addition to the supplied accessories, you will need the following:
1. For Visual Use:
Our finest visual accessories may be purchased with the telescope at a discount when the telescope is finished.
2. Mount and Tripod options:
- M002CW Visual-Use Mount
- Celestron AVX Mount/Tripod Lightweight mount with a go-to computer.
- Losmandy GM811G. Ideal for Imaging
3. Optional Case:
Our C009S optional, heavy duty, thickly-padded Nylon hard case comes with a heavy duty zipper.
4. Field Flattener:
Doublets that are this well corrected pretty well match the visual performance of a triplet when in focus. For this reason many visual uses prefer doublets. A triplet is better suited for imaging and we recommend the SVX102T if you will be using this telescope for imaging. To image with this telescope, you need either a photographic field flattener (SFFX-1 for SVX102T) or a photographic flattener/reducer, (SFFR.74-102T) and your camera. Imaging the night sky also requires an accurate guiding mount, off-axis guider, or a guide scope with a guiding camera. The SFFX-1 for SVX102T converts the telescope into a 714mm f-7 astrograph/telephoto telescope with a 43mm image circle. The SFFR.74-102T converts the telescope into a 535mm f-5.25 astrograph/telephoto lens with a 40mm image circle.
5. Finder Scope:
For easily locating objects at night we recommend our top-rated 50mm optical finder scope. To mount the finder scope you will need our R050DA adjustable mounting rings. Our EI002 reticle illuminator allows you to see the crosshair reticle in the eyepiece at night.

SVX 102D
I received the SVX102 together with the field flattener and the reducer in January 2022.
After I placed the order I was worried that a doublet might not be a good idea for imaging. Well, I was wrong. This telescope works fantastic for imaging. Pinpoint starts w/o any fringes and a flat field from edge to edge with the field flatteners. I image mostly DSO's and have not tried it on the planets or the moon.
The focuser is very precise w/o any backlash and it holds its focus through the night. Mechanically this telescope is superb. Optically it is also absolutely fantastic both for visual as for imaging. So if you plan to do imaging and want to safe some money I would not hesitate to recommend this scope. -
SVX102D
An excellent telescope for the visual astronomer.
It is light weight for its size. Very sharp views of all objects. -
SVX102D
Excellent build quality and a wonderful SV 3.5” focuser - viewing shows that this is a high quality scope with excellent optics. This scope is also surprisingly light and compact. Very happy with this purchase and look forward to years of enjoyment.

SVX102D Review
This refractor is absolutely World class!!! The fit and finish and attention to detail are incredible. It oozes quality from the rings to the screw on lens lens cover.
Now to the optics. I am blown away by the sharpness of the views through the SVX102D. Stars are pinpoints, Jupiter looked so good, and its moons were seen as tiny discs. I could even tell Ganymede was bigger in size with a 6mm eyepiece. Saturn was razer sharp at 119X. The crescent Moon looked incredible with a 13mm eyepiece. I couldn't be happier with the SVX102D mounted on the Stellavue M2C mount. This combination is rock solid and so easy to use to cruise around the night sky. Vic and the whole team at Stellarvue have done an amazing job and were a joy to work with. I would highly recommend this telescope. 5 Stars!!!
