Michael Schneider caught this incredible shot of the Elephant’s Trunk Nebula (IC 1396A) in Cepheus with his Stellarvue 102 Triplet. This nebula is located in the larger ionized gas region IC 1396 and sits 2,400 light-years away from Earth. This entire region is ionized by the triple star system HD 206267, except for the dense globules that protect themselves from the star's ultraviolet rays. The bright star system can be seen at the upper center of this image.
