This is the heavy duty, airline carry-on size case for our Optimus eyepieces and other accessories. The case will hold five Optimus eyepieces, including the larger 20 mm and 13.5 mm units, two additional 1.25" eyepieces, our 2" D1040Q Quartz Star Diagonal and it has two more square 4 1/2" compartments. These additional compartments can hold other accessories like a small cleaning kit, photographic flattener and even a small cmos, ccd or dslr camera. The picture above shows a fully loaded case. These accessories are not included. You get the case and the heavy duty foam with die cutouts as shown.
The heavy duty foam and the cutouts are made in three layers. If the eyepiece or accessory is not as deep as the longer Optimus eyepieces, the user can remove only one or two of the layers of foam so the object sits higher in the case. The outer case is padded on all six sides so the Optimus eyepieces fit snugly in the case. When the case is first closed it will stick up a little as shown to the right. The zipper is then zipped around the case holding everything firmly in place. After some use the zipper becomes easier to zip and unzip as the eyepieces seat in the outer case padding.
The case measures 22" X 13" X 8" when zippered closed. The heavy duty nylon covering and thick padding on all six sides will hold your eyepieces firmly and securely inside. This case is superior to watertight cases that may trap in moisture and lead to mold forming. It is made in the same manner and using the same materials as our heavy duty telescope cases which we have been offering for 20 years. These cases have a strap handle that makes it easy to carry.
