SVX140T - Pelican Nebula
October 7, 2025 - Ryan Voykin

Ryan Voykin captured this incredible shot of the North America and Pelican Nebulae (IC 5070 & NGC 7000) in Cygnus with his
SVX140T. Both of these emission nebulae are located approximately 2,500 light-years away from Earth. They have an active mix of star formation and evolving gas clouds. Light from young energetic stars, is slowly transforming cold gas to hot, creating an ionization front that is gradually advancing outward in these regions. Both objects are part of the larger H II region called Westerhout 40.
According to Ryan: "An annual classic decided to squeeze both in using the SVX140 which is crazy to get both targets this size, but the new Full Frame Reducer and Camera turn a giant APO into a wide field set up which is really cool. Finding new ways to make an old target exciting is what it’s all about when you’re several years in. Comparing the progress, style, composition."
