Stellar Shot of the Week: January 15, 2021
"Sh2 96 H-alpha and RGB (The Scarlet Letter?)" - by Jerry Yesavage

Congratulations to this week's StellarShot of the Week, which goes to Jerry Yesavage and his image of Sharpless Catalog Object Sh2-96. This is one of a few filaments of the supernova remnant SNR 065.2+05.7, which has a diameter of about 228 lightyears and an age of about 20,000yr). This image was taken by Jerry using an SVT130 wit the Moonlite Nitecrawler and the always-fantastic Mach1 GTO (CP4), and as anyone that has been following this page knows we love the obscure targets like these. And thankfully we're not alone, as we're proud to share with you that this very same image was chosen as the #1 image this past month in the reader's gallery of Astronomy Magazine! Its always nice when a publisher or professional recognizes your hard word, but to have the honor of being chosen by your peers feels just as impressive to us (if not more so). Congratulations to Jerry, and for anyone who wants to check out the rest of his amazing work you can find him on Astrobin.com under the username "jerryyyyy" (or you can just click here - https://www.astrobin.com/users/jerryyyyy/)
