Now is absolutely the best time to buy a Stellarvue Telescope and here is why:
July 9, 2025: This information is being posted to inform customers of a pending price increase to keep you informed on what is happening here and throughout the refractor telescope industry.
As of this date, it is possible to purchase Stellarvue telescopes at last year's prices. While we hand figure all SVX objectives in house here at Stellarvue, the super-low-dispersion glass we use is only made in the Far East and the rare-earth materials needed in them are only available from China. Super low dispersion optical glass is the most expensive component in a premier apochromatic refractor. This imported super low dispersion optical glass is not made in the United States. At the current time, we are running low on the glass purchased before tariff increases. Here are the details:

The glass we currently have in stock was purchased before the new tariffs were enacted, so the total cost of tariffs and shipping was under 20%. Tariffs on China increased to 145% and right now those were temporarily reduced to a stated 30% tariff but that does not include two other tariffs that are also currently in effect. So at the current time, during this temporary pause, we are actually paying 62% for shipping and all three tariffs that apply. This is triple what we paid when we bought our existing glass that we have in stock at the moment.
The final tariffs are supposed to be announced sometime around August 1st. If it is more than 30% for China you can estimate what that will really be by taking the announced rate and adding about 30% for the other tariffs still in effect. Even at this current. lower, temporary "pause" rate, we are looking at glass blanks costing up to $1000 more than they did previously.

So, now is absolutely the best time to buy a Stellarvue telescope. We have been selling a lot of telescopes this year because people know that prices will be going up. We are now running low on glass for six of our models (listed below). If you are interested in any one of these, you should order now. This is your official notice.
