"The Flaming Star Nebula" (IC405) by Jon Talbot

Jon Talbot captured this image of "The Flaming Star Nebula" (IC 405) using his Stellarvue SVS130 Astrograph, QSI 583 camera and Astrodon filters on his Paramount MyT mount.

Jon says, "IC405 is also known as the Flaming Star Nebula and Caldwell 31. It is a emission and reflection nebula lit up by the star AE Aurigae, the bright star near the center of the image. IC 405 is in the constellation Auriga and is approximately 1,500 light years distant. This image was taken at the 2017 Winter Star Party in the FL Keys and is comprised of 90min of Red, Green and Blue images along with 90min of Hydrogen Alpha. The image was processed in PixInsight."
