Product Description
We discontinued are import line of "Stellarvue Access Refractors" many years ago as we focused on making highly accurate telescope objectives in house. Many newcomers to astronomy cannot afford a hand-figured SVX refractor as a beginner's telescope. Many of these newcomers are younger and have a much more limited budget. We have been receiving requests to bring back the Access Series for years now. We have decided that for a limited time we will bring back this series. We do not Zygo test these telescopes as it would add to the cost, defeating the purpose of a budget, entry level telescope.
The Stellarvue Access 80 mm telescope is your chance to own a doublet refractor at an affordable price! It uses a unique combination of materials to keep the cost down without sacrificing usability. The objective contains an apochromatic doublet using a combination of FCD100 and Lanthanum which will keep your image contrast high, and since every lens is aligned before shipment you can be sure that you’ll be getting very good performanace for the money. With the 2.5 inch focuser you’ll be able to handle any combination of diagonal and eyepiece. Also, with the superior design of the rack and pinion focuser you can be assured of smooth yet stable draw tube travel.
What this is: The former Access series of imported telescopes were offered to provide people with access to a good telescope at a reasonable price. Access series telescopes are made entirely in China and the optics are figured there. We check each telescope to ensure the focuser operates according to spec and the optics are properly aligned.
Objective Lens: 80 mm clear aperture, 560 mm focal length (F-7), doublet with a single SD element (FCD100 and Lanthanum).
What this is not: This is not a part of Stellarvue's premier line of apochromatic refractors with optics hand figured here in our shop in Auburn. We do not Zygo test Access series telescopes. These telescopes perform on par with other import telescopes within their range. These are very good visual instruments.
Tube and dew shield: The Stellarvue Access 125 comes with an aluminum tube and dew shield that is finished in Instrument White. Fittings are black anodized aluminum. The dew shield retracts reducing the length of the telescope when being stored. Extending the dew-shield minimizes dewing of the objective at night and serves as a glare shade during the daytime.
Internal tube treatment: The inside of the main tube assembly is painted "ultra flat black" and is baffled to eliminate tube wall reflections.
2.5" dual speed focuser: This is an imported dual speed, 2.5” focuser that provides a full 80mm of travel. It comes with an SER2 rotator on the drawtube. The focuser is smooth and stable, we adjust them here before approving the telescope for sale. This focuser is perfect for visual use. It has an ultra-smooth (9:1 Ratio) fine focus control to attain perfect focus every time. An internal brake system allows the user to adjust capacity.
Aluminum hinged rings: The Access 80 comes with two lightweight, hinged, cast aluminum mounting rings. Each ring has three M6 threaded holes top and bottom. The holes are 15 mm apart. Use the included rail for telescope mounts using the Vixen style rail or use the optional TP009 for mounts that use the larger Losmandy style rail.
Vixen Style Rail and Balance: The Access 125 comes with a Vixen style rail with a center threaded 1/4-20 hole, two countersunk holes and a slot allowing the rings to be positioned between about 55 mm and 120 mm apart.
Light gathering and magnification power: A 80 mm refractor gathers 130 times the amount of light the naked eye does. The telescope can be used to about 180X depending on the seeing conditions.
Two year warranty and Stellarvue Service: We are with you for life. Stellarvue telescopes and accessories are covered by a two year warranty. But it does not stop there. Since we are a telescope maker, we can repair your telescope for a very nominal fee years after it goes out of warranty, should you accidentally drop it on concrete or otherwise damage it. Buy a Stellarvue Telescope with confidence. Our customer care is legendary.

Many customers prefer this mount as it is ready to use once it is set up. Users can locate objects using planetarium software on their phones, then use the red dot finder to zero in on the same area of the sky and observe. This mount/tripod combination is fast and easy but it will not track objects as they move about the sky.
STELLARVUE M002CS

The heavy duty stainless steel tripod has an underside brace that holds eyepieces. The tripod by itself weighs 20 pounds, but has a large capacity. The attachment bolt is M12 x 1.75. Both the column and the mount head are precision-made in the USA. The head now includes precision-ground stainless shafts, stainless steel roller bearings, and a big 3" Teflon bearing on each axis.
With the M002C mount head (with dual Vixen and Losmandy style shoe) and the MEC012 column attached, the telescope will sit 42" - 64" high when positioned horizontally, depending on how far the tripods legs are extended. The complete mounting set-up will hold a 25-pound telescope.
