Additional Info

The Stellarvue SVR105 Raptor telescope delivers stunning visual and photographic performance. Many images posted on the internet show how deep this lens can reach, revealing faint details and extended nebulous regions. The 3" focuser is larger than needed for providing wide field, large chip imaging. The carbon fiber tubes makes this our lightest 105mm, even with the large focuser. The telescope is simply beautiful.

Fully multicoated apochromatic triplet objective: Using a 105 mm f-7  apochromatic triplet objective with an FPL-53 center element, this telescope  provides extreme contrast, a perfect star test, and excellent color correction.    What more would you ask for? To further enhance this high level of contrast,  extreme broadband multicoatings are used on all six lenses,  making the stars appear vivid and the background velvet black. These coatings  transmit light above and below the visual spectrum,  minimizing reflections seen on ccd images.

Lightweight, structurally stable carbon fiber tube and dew shield.    The carbon fiber tube combined with black anodized aluminum fittings making  this a stunning instrument. When the telescope is used, this dew shield may be  extended to minimize dewing of the objective at night and to serve as a glare  shade during the daytime. When being stored, the dew shield retracts to reduce  the length of the telescope.

Internal tube treatment: Tube interiors are lined with velvet and are  baffled to eliminate any tube wall reflections. The 11 baffle ridges of the  focuser drawtube are painted "ultra flat" black to eliminate the most common  type of reflections. This treatment is far better than drawtubes that are merely  threaded. The blackened edges of the objective are the final method used to  preserve the outstanding contrast of this exceptional apochromatic lens.

3" dual speed focuser: The rotating 3" focuser has 112 mm of travel and is large enough to work with our biggest field flattener. There is no need to ever go larger than this massive 3"  focuser. This focuser features an ultra-smooth coarse/fine focus knobs (10:1 Ratio), internal brake system, ultra-low backlash system. It is threaded on the rear to accept the SFF7-3SV field flattener.

Aluminum hinged rings:   The SVR105 Raptor comes with two 4.1" aluminum  mounting rings. Each ring has 1/4-20 threaded holes top and bottom. Use the optional TP-10 rail for telescope mounts using the Vixen style rail or use the  optional TP6 for mounts that use the larger Losmandy style rail.

What else do you need?   In addition to the supplied  accessories, you will need a star diagonal or erecting prism, eyepiece(s) and amount. You may also want to  purchase our C9S case (offered above at half price) and a reflex or optical finder scope.

Light gathering and magnification power: The purpose of a telescope is to gather light and magnify the apparent size of the object being viewed. A 105 mm refractor gathers 225 times the amount of light the naked eye can, revealing faint objects in space. Magnification power (the increase in relative size of the object being viewed) is dependant upon the eyepiece being used. Different eyepieces provide different magnification powers. Since this telescope uses a highly accurate, hand figured objective lens triple tested in the USA, these telescopes are free of the coma and astigmatism seen in many import telescopes. This provides sharper details when viewing at higher powers. Dawes limit states maximum power for telescopes under good conditions is about 250 powers for a 105 mm telescope, but you can exceed ever this power on a clear night. This is a true apo triplet capable of exceptionally high powers when conditions permit. Check the Recommended Accessories section to make the best choice for eyepieces.

Two year warranty and Stellarvue Service:  Stellarvue telescopes and accessories are covered by a two year warranty. But it  does not stop there. Since we are a telescope maker, we can repair your  telescope for a nominal fee years after it goes out of warranty, should you  accidentally drop it on concrete or otherwise damage it. Buy a Stellarvue  Telescope  with confidence. Our customer care is legendary.
