Product Description

Stellarvue is producing another run of fifty SV152T apochromatic refractors. This is our flagship telescope employing a high Strehl apo triplet objective made with an Ohara FPL-53 center element and a rear element of Lanthanum. This telescope has the highest resolution and the largest image scale of any current Stellarvue refractor. The telescope comes standard in our durable Instrument White color. If a custom color is preferred, please call us. The SV152T has a retracting dew shield, 3.5” Feather Touch focuser with 2” and 1.25” adapters, aluminum mounting rings made on our CNC machines and is packed in our heavy duty C152 American made Rodie style hard case.

We build these telescopes one at a time. We are delivering these telescopes now to those who ordered first. We plan to deliver 50 units between now and April 2018. At the time of this writing (March 28, 2017) customers ordering now can expect to receive their telescopes late Summer or Fall. This delivery date will continue to be moved back as more telescopes are ordered.  The sooner you order, the sooner we will deliver yours.

Call us at (530) 823-7796 to order your SV152T.

Our high Strehl precision made objective and extreme broadband coatings ensure excellent visual and photographic performance. This observatory class, apochromatic refractor has a focal length of 1210 mm (f-8). Photographic performance is excellent. When using an APS or smaller chip no flattener is required. For larger chip cameras, our optional SFF3 flattener will provide a 1200 mm focal length at f-8. Using the optional SFFR152 the f-ratio will be reduced to f-5.8 at a focal length of 882 mm.

Fully multicoated apochromatic triplet objective: The SV152T delivers extreme contrast, a perfect star test, and excellent color correction. To further enhance this high level of contrast our proprietary broadband, full multi-coatings are used on all six optical surfaces, making the stars appear vivid and the background velvet black. These coatings transmit light above and below the visual spectrum, eliminating reflections seen only on ccd images.

Instrument white aluminum tube and dew shield: When the telescope is used, this dew shield may be extended to minimize dewing of the objective at night and to serve as a glare shade during the day. When being stored, the dew shield retracts to reduce the length of the telescope.

Internal tube treatment: The main tube interior is painted "ultra flat" black inside and has five knife edge baffles to eliminate any tube wall reflections. Eleven baffle ridges of the focuser draw tube are painted "ultra flat" black to eliminate the most common type of reflections seen in refractors. This treatment is far better than draw tubes that are merely threaded.

3.5" Feather Touch dual speed focuser: The fully rotating, 3.5" Feather Touch offers  4.5"  of travel. The Feather Touch features an ultra-smooth coarse/fine focus knobs  (10:1 Ratio), internal brake system, ultra-low backlash system.

Aluminum hinged rings:   The SV152T comes with two American made, cnc machined, hinged, aluminum  mounting rings. Each ring has five screws top and bottom. Threaded holes are  1/4-20. There is one center hole, two holes spaced 1.5" apart and two holes spaced 60 mm apart. We supply the telescope with a Losmandy style TP13 rail.

c152hd-small.jpgC152HD Case: A heavy duty, foam lined rodie style travel case is included.  The American made C152 case is of a higher quality than import hard cases that have thin walls. This case will last for many years. It is made with 3/8" thick plywood, not thin veneer.

What else do you need?  In addition to the supplied accessories, you will need the following for visual use:

1. Star diagonal. We recommend the Stellarvue D1029EDU (order it above)
2. A complete set of eyepieces. We recommend the top rated Stellarvue Optimus series - our best
3. A telescope Mount. We recommend the Paramount MyT, Losmandy G11 or Celestron CGXL
4. A finderscopeWe suggest the F50W2 finder, EI2 Illuminator and R050FA ring system

Light gathering and magnification power: The purpose of a telescope is to gather light and magnify the apparent size of the object being viewed. A 152 mm refractor gathers 472 times the amount of light the naked eye can. This will reveal faint objects in space. Magnification power (the increase in relative size of the object being viewed) is dependent upon the eyepiece being used. Different eyepieces provide different magnification powers. Since this telescope uses a highly accurate, hand figured objective lens and is triple tested in the USA, these telescopes are free of the coma and astigmatism seen in many import telescopes. This provides sharper details when viewing at higher powers. Dawes limit, which is the stated maximum power for telescopes under good conditions is about 378 power for a 152 mm telescope, but you can exceed even this power on a steady night. This is a true apo triplet capable of very high power, when conditions permit. We recommend our top rated Stellarvue Optimus eyepieces to maintain the high level of performance this telescope exhibits.

Two year warranty and Stellarvue Service:  Stellarvue telescopes and accessories are covered by a two-year warranty. But it does not stop there. Since we are a telescope maker, we can repair your telescope for a nominal fee years after it goes out of warranty, should you accidentally drop it on concrete or otherwise damage it. Buy a Stellarvue Telescope with confidence. Our customer care is legendary.
