Stellar Shot of the Week 12/28/2016

Chris Gomez took this picture of the Alnitak region using his Stellarvue SV70T, Skyglow 2" astrophotography filter and Canon modified T5i on an Atlas EQ-G mount. Chris says, "Here is a shot of the Alnitak region from Christmas night. This region is filled with all three, dark, reflective, and emission nebula. This area is an astrophotographers favorite and is well known for its nebula that resemble a flame to the left and a horse's head to the right."

This image contains: IC 435, NGC 2024, NGC 2023, Horsehead nebula, IC 434, IC 432, IC 431, NGC 1990, The star Alnitak (ζOri), The star σOri, The star Alnilam (εOri), Part of the constellation Orion (Ori).
