Stellarvue is discontinuing our highly rated 85 mm, f-6.9 short tube apo . This is the last chance to get one and very few remain. In
the Septmber 2003 issue of Sky and Telescope magazine, the SV85 apo was reported to provide the highest degree of performance among the 85mm and 90mm doublet apos out there. This is true. The SV85S
features hefty all aluminum construction, retractable dew shield, and a single speed JMI DX2 focuser with 1.25" adapter. This American made focuser is free of backlash and can lift 8 lbs. The telescope
features a fully baffled main tube and our best, fully multicoated 85mm f-6.9 apo doublet objective lens, foam padded case and red dot finder.

To enhance contrast, the telescope uses main tube baffles and our special interior tube treatment with a blackened and threaded
focus tube. See intense high contrast images against a velvet dark sky background. You may order the complete system
which comes with everything you need to start observing. Order the telescope only if you plan to mount the scope on a heavy camera tripod or alternate mount.
The telescope's dew cap retracts making the telescope less than 18 1/2" in total length. This is well within airline carry-on
size. Each SV85S comes with its own foam-lined airline carry-on case. The case is large enough to hold a large 2" diagonal, red dot finder, three 2" eyepieces and five 1 1/2" eyepieces or Barlows.

The Stellarvue 85S uses a Super ED glass, full multi-coatings on all four surfaces, and an extremely accurate figure to produce
high contrast, razor sharp images. The SV85S is a true multi purpose telescope. While it provides stunning, high contrast wide fields, it may also be taken to maximum power for high resolution lunar, planetary and
double star work. All of this is a compact tube assembly you can carry on a plane.

All our lenses are produced to very tight specifications. SV85S lenses are hand figured by a master optician to achieve
the best possible optical null. These lenses are tested with interferometric devices, a zygo test machine and actual star test for color correction, spherical aberration, astigmatism, coma, and zonal
aberration.
Stellarvue telescopes are made with solid aluminum and precision machined on both manual and cnc equipment. Our heavy, thermally
equalized, push pull lens cells help ensure stable alignment and excellent performance under both normal and extreme conditions. Using 1/8" thick, machined aluminum tubing and oversized aluminum and stainless fittings,
the optical path remains fixed, maintaining the integrity of our world class optics. Each tube assembly is fully baffled and treated with ultra flat black interiors for maximum contrast.
