Stellarvue's clamshell ring allows for easy one touch balance adjustment. Merely loosen the clamshell knob, slide the tube to perfect balance and tighten. Do not confuse this with models using a conventional focuser with a "Feather Touch" dual speed mechanism attached. Take a look at the Dr Walawender review of the 102ED and you will see mention of the SV102ABV. The ABV is the binoviewer friendly 102 made with the Russian doublet lens that thinks it is a triplet. Due to glass cost increases, we had to discontinue this model. But the lens maker in Russia is delivering the last twelve 102ABV lenses in August and we will make these into the last of the 102ABV's. We are selling these last twelve telescopes at the original price. Once they are gone, they are gone. No more will be made.

The 102ABV is longer (F-7.7) than the 102ED and is heavier, weighing in at nearly 12 lbs. It features a threaded extension tube used for normal viewing. Remove this tube and the telescope can be used with binoviewers without any adapters, providing the widest and brightest view with binoviewers. This model is made with the Feather Touch focuser, comes in the C9 heavy duty case, uses the cnc clamshell and has an F2 multi-reticle finder. This telescope is waitlisted. Delivery estimate is here. Heavy duty zippers, carrying handle which opens with Velcro and internal dividers that are attached with Velcro. The dividers can be repositioned anywhere in the case or removed. Store your telescope, diagonals and eyepieces in one long case. Pictured to the left is the SV102ED2 showing space on either side for your accessories. This system increases the speed of the 102ED to f-5.6 and flattens the field for use with film or ccd. This lens was used with the 102ED in taking the Andromeda Galaxy photograph shown here. This is a good flattener to use with the APS sized chip. The system has three parts comprising the Televue RFL-4087 reducer/flattener, the RAD-1074 2" insert tube and the TRG-1072 T-ring adapter. If you have a camera that does not use a t-ring, contact us as other adapters are available and most provide a wider aperture.
