Majesty of the Night Sky is an outstanding introduction to the wonders of the universe. Taught by Vic Maris, owner of Stellarvue who has been making telescopes for more than 40 years and who served for 30 years as a park ranger and naturalist. Vic makes this course fun and easy to understand.

This is not a boring science lecture. It is a multifaceted presentation designed to instill excitement and appreciation for the wonders of the universe.

  • learn about low-cost equipment you should (and should not) buy
  • actually view the heavens through some of the best available telescopes at a remote High Sierra observing site only 50 minutes from Auburn.

Learn about the wonders of the universe in the fun and informative classroom session Saturday afternoon, then have a leisurely dinner in Auburn. After dinner, participants will drive 50 minutes to our High Sierra observing site. Here, under dark skies, you will actually see the distant stars, star clusters, nebulae and galaxies you learned about in class.
