Here at Stellarvue we make one telescope at a time. We take time to ensure each one is as good as we can make it. These are not rushed, mass produced, mediocre instruments. We believe the world doesn't need any more mediocre telescopes.
Telescope models are available in three availability categories:
1. In Stock. When a Stellarvue telescope is in stock it means we have assembled tested and certified it for immediate sale. Any telescope available for sale on our website may be ordered and it will be shipped within 48 hours.
2. Pre-order List: We endeavor to keep our telescope models in stock but this is not always possible. For this reason, some of our telescopes are shown as "pre-order." When you submit an order for these you are placed on the pre-order list and work will begin on your telescope. Pre-order telescope orders are filled on a first-come, first served basis. The sooner you order, the sooner you get your telescope. While we normally like to deliver telescopes that are on a pre-order basis in 30 - 90 days, material and supplier issues can extend this waiting period. When you pre-order a telescope we will let you know an estimate of when we think it will be complete. We will keep you informed if anything changes.
3. Notification List: Some telescope models are not available for ordering or pre-ordering. These are more complex instruments like the SV160 which are made in runs of about 24 units at a time. We do not open these to preorder until we have received the raw optical glass, tested it and determined it meets our standard. When that happens we schedule a long project of making about two dozen of these telescopes. Customers interested in these telescopes may call us at (530) 823-7796 and get on the "Notification List." This is not the same as a "pre-order list" as you are not placing an order; you are only asking to be notified. Customers on the notification list will be notified by email when we are preparing to open the pre-order list. This will enable them to get ready to order the telescope after the pre-order list opens but before all units are spoken for. The demand for these telescopes exceed our capacity since we maintain an exceptionally high standard and this takes time. For this reason, the pre-order list usually opens and closes in a relatively short period of time. So if you want one, getting on the notification list may help you realize your goal.
