Stellarvue Apo Upgrade

Now you can upgrade your f-6 Stellarvue Nighthawk from an achromat to a full apo triplet! This high contract apochromatic triplet lens is free of false color. Replacing the lens is easy. We do it for you!  All you do is send us your telescope (once you get an authorization number from us), send us the telescope and we replace your lens, align it to your telescope and modify the dew shield so it works as new. All we charge for this service is your original lens!  

Which telescopes will this upgrade work with? This upgrade will work with 80mm f-6 (480 mm focal length) achromatic refractors including the Stellarvue AT1010, Stellarvue Nighthawk, Stellarvue Nighthawk Classic, Stellarvue SV78 and Stellarvue Nighthawk 2. It will also work with other manufacturers 80 mm f-6 telescopes including the Orion Express, William Optics 80 mm f-6 and others. In order to make sure this lens will come to focus, it must be used on tube assemblies made for a 480 mm focal length lens. The tube must have a front thread of M90 X 1. Most do.

This upgrade WILL NOT work with the Stellarvue NHA (Nighthawk Aplanat), NH7(Nighthawk 7), Nighthawk Next Generation or 80ED. That is because these telescopes have a longer (560 mm) focal length so the main tubes on these telescopes are too long. The upgrade lens will not come to focus if mounted on these longer tubes.

How do I upgrade? Purchase the lens above and then call us. We will provide you with a return authorization number. Box up your existing achromat and mark the return authorization number on the box. Send it to us fully insured. We will exchange lenses, align and test the telescope. We will do this work and return it to you within 30 days.

The Stellarvue Nighthawk 2 used a lens cell that was the same diameter as the Apo Upgrade lens cell. You can make the lens exchange yourself if you prefer and we will supply the felt needed to make the dew shield retract properly.

Older Nighthawks used a larger diameter dew shield. While it is easy to replace the lens, the dew shield on these will not fit. We suggest you have us do the replacement. We will machine an adapter or replace the dew shield at no additional charge so it works as new.
